How does compound interest work?
Compound interest means interest is worked out on a balance that already includes earlier interest — growth on growth. The calculator works period by period (monthly, quarterly, yearly and so on) and places each regular saving in the nearest period, at the end or the start of the period as you choose. The effective annual rate shows the real rate after compounding.
The default rate is only an example: fixed deposits, savings accounts, unit trusts and other schemes pay different rates that can change; investment returns are not guaranteed.
Target mode: how much to save?
Enter the target and tenure; the calculator finds the smallest regular saving (rounded to the cent) that reaches the target at the rate and frequency you choose — with the same growth table as growth mode, so both modes always agree.
Inside the app, a monthly savings target can become a budget commitment so it is counted every month alongside your receipts and bills.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between compounding frequency and saving frequency?
Compounding frequency is how often interest is added to the balance (set by the product); saving frequency is how often you add money. When both are monthly the result equals the standard annuity formula; when they differ, savings are placed in the nearest compounding period — a close approximation.
Is interest on savings taxed?
The tax treatment depends on the kind of income and the rules for the year of assessment — some interest and dividends are exempt, some are not. Our tax calculator follows the current LHDN rules; confirm with the official source.
