How is it worked out?
Equivalent value = amount × (target CPI ÷ original CPI). For a full year the CPI is the 12-month average; for the latest month, that month's value. Average yearly inflation is worked out from the latest index against the same month several years earlier.
The overall index (base 2010 = 100) represents a typical household basket of goods and services — your personal inflation may differ depending on what you buy.

Frequently asked questions
Why did my prices rise more than the CPI?
The CPI is a national average over a broad basket. Specific items (for example food in your town) can rise more or less — our price tracker shows real item prices.
How often is the data updated?
The Department of Statistics publishes the CPI monthly; ListBelanja's data pipeline checks daily and stores the new series as soon as it is published.
Are my numbers stored?
No. The calculation happens in your browser; no numbers are sent or stored.
